Good Morning,

Albert was born to Toby and Julia (Thompson) Olson on February 7, 1922 in Amo Township. He was baptized and confirmed at Amo Lutheran Church, Storden, MN. Albert completed his education in that community. While there he worked on the family farm and learned his carpentry skills working with his Uncle Johnny. In November 1942, Albert enlisted in the U.S. Army, completed his basic training in Texas and was sent to North Africa eventually spending over two years in the campaigns in Italy, France and Germany. He served with the 17th Veterinary Evacuation Hospital treating wounded mules that carried food and ammunition to the front lines. On November 20, 1943, before shipping out to Africa, he married his sweetheart, D. Virginia Scrivner, know to everyone as Ginger. To this marriage three children were born, twin daughters, Jean and Jo and son, Stuart.

Albert was honorably discharged and returned home from the war at Christmastime of 1945. Together with his wife he took over the family farm. He continued farming there until the summer of 1969 when they moved to the Bemidji area, purchased a farm and raised Hereford cattle. Albert also worked twelve years in maintenance at the BSU music building. After retiring he spent many hours in his basement woodshop hand crafting beautiful mementos for his family and friends from the stately oak and pine trees that graced the farm.

Albert was a very active member of both Amo and Calvary Lutheran congregations, serving on various boards and ushering. Albert lived his abiding faith with hands that tended a huge garden, providing fruit and vegetables to the Bemidji Food Shelf. He and Ginger together volunteered at the Food Shelf and Meals on Wheels for many years.

He is survived by his daughters, Jean (Terry) Diffley of Bemidji and Jo (Don) Langan of Babbitt; son, Stuart (Donna) Olson of Phoenix, AZ; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren and one brother, Dennis (Helen) Olson of North Oaks, MN.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ginger; parents, Toby and Julia Olson; brother Milo Olson and sister-in-law, Lois Olson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Calvary Lutheran Church, Bemidji or the local food shelf.
