ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The Pollution Control Agency has issued an air pollution health advisory for the southern two-thirds of Minnesota including the Twin Cities area.

The advisory is effective from Friday through midday Saturday.

The MPCA says fine particle pollution is increasing across the southern two-thirds of the state. On Friday, a combination of early morning fog, high pressure and light southerly winds are expected to cause fine particles to approach unhealthy levels for sensitive groups. These conditions are expected to persist until midday Saturday, when increased winds are expected to improve air quality.

Sensitive individuals include people with cardiovascular or respiratory conditions, the elderly, children, and individuals who participate in intense activity. The MPCA encourages them to postpone or reduce vigorous activity and minimize their exposure to air pollution sources.
