BEMIDJI – One shotgun was recovered following a residential burglary early Sunday, and four people were arrested in connection with the crime.

Khristopher Wilbur Eng, 34; Gary Duane Stanton, 26; Amber Dawn Moss, 28; and Clinton Robert Zenzius, 26, all of Bemidji, were booked into the Beltrami County Jail on felony charges of burglary in the first degree.

Moss was booked on an additional gross misdemeanor charge of neglect or endangerment of a child.

Three children were taken into protective custody after the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office obtained a search warrant for a room at the Country Court Motel, 5526 Bemidji Ave. N.

The warrant came after deputies followed tracks in the snow from the location of the burglary, on Meadow Creek Lane Northwest, to a room at the motel.

Police are working to find another shotgun taken in the burglary, Beltrami County Sheriff Phil Hodapp said, and were able to recover cash and an antique coin collection that were also taken.

Eng, Stanton and Moss had their bonds set at $3,000 by Beltrami District Judge Paul Benshoof Tuesday. Stanton and Moss remained in jail Wednesday night.

Zenzius, who is on probation for a 2012 felony conviction of fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, was held without bail, and he remains in jail.

Zenzius has a fairly extensive criminal history that includes 2007 convictions for felony burglary in the first, second and third degrees, theft of a motor vehicle and fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle. He also has a 2010 conviction for felony assault in the third degree.

Eng and Moss have previous convictions at the misdemeanor level; Stanton has no criminal history in the state of Minnesota, according to court records.
