Affinity expands to third Bemidji location
BEMIDJI -- Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union has expanded to a third location in Bemidji.
On June 2, the new Hannah Avenue location opened its doors after nine months of construction. The building features more than 10,000 square feet of space, almost double the size of the other Bemidji locations.
Corey Rupp, the vice president for Affinity Plus in Bemidji, said the business saw an opportunity to expand and took it. "We've outgrown our space and needed better access, more space, and more drive-through access," Rupp said.
The new location, situated across the street from Walmart, was a prime spot for the new building, according to Rupp.
"It's very visible -- the access was very convenient and it was in a part of town that we felt was great with most of our members," he said. "At some point, people are out here shopping and running errands in this part of town, so we just thought it would be a great spot for today and for the future."
The other two locations in Bemidji, located on the BSU campus and on Bemidji Avenue, will remain open. More jobs also will be created as a result of the new location. A call center, located in the back of the building and leased by Affinity Plus, will be hiring about 20 new employees in the coming year. The credit union itself will also be hiring a "couple" new positions in the near future.
Rupp said future goals for the credit union are simply to continue serving customers to the best of its abilities. "We just want to be a financially healthy cooperative that really gives our members great service," he said.
