It faces the Mudcats Friday at 7 in the second game of their best of three series.

The Blue Ox won the opener 2-1, their first win over their Class B rival.

Saturdays scheduled twin bill with Crookston was postponed when a heavy storm struck Crookston Friday night causing flooding and damaging. winds.

The likelihood of the games being played was dubious with light rain all falling most of the morning at Bemidji.

The A's arrived with only nine players and avoided any injuries through the day.

The Ox were not much better with several key players missing including the scheduled starting hurler for the second game.

It left manager Chris Conway with a limited bench to work with.

Ada scored three times off Cody Gross in the first inning of the opener and Bemidji never caught up. Ken Hayden's double, a hit batter and singles by Sam Kinne and Mike Gullingsrud did the damage.

After that Gross set down the visitors on single runs in the fifth and sixth, both unearned.

Bemidji drew within one run in the third when Dan Bennett walked with two outs and scored on Colton Smith's double.

Smith stole third and Chris Conway was hit by a pitch.

Conway was picked off first but escaped on a wild throw on the rundown with Smith scoring.

But the Ox managed only two hits the rest of the game and never got even..

Two singles around a wild pickoff throw gave Ada one in the fifth and an overthrow, sacrifice and Adam Schumacher's bloop single to right plated the final run in the sixth.

Hayden and Aaron Cook had two hits for Ada Smith had two for Bemidji.

Kinne went the route to get the win, fanning seven and walking one. The two Bemidji hurlers had the same figures with Sam Saccoman working the seventh.

Ada jumped to an early lead again, scoring four times in the second against Saccoman on four hits and two walks.

Another crossed in the third against Smith on two hits and a sacrifice fly.

Bemidji came back with four against Schumacher. Josh Kelsey, Bennett and Smith opened with singles to load the bases. Joel Conway sent two home with a single and following a walk, Buck Dwyer scored another pair with a one bagger.

But despite four more hits and five base runners, the Ox never scored again.

Ada added two in the fourth on Jameson Ben son's double with Thor Josefson relieving Smith to end the frame.

He allowed a run in the sixth on three singles.

The three hurlers fanned three and walked eight with Saccoman losing for the first time. Schumacher and Hayden, who pitched the final three, had 11 strikeouts and six walks.
