Ada, Minn., woman killed in crash on I-29
HILLSBORO, N.D. -- An Ada, Minn., woman was killed and three other women injured Tuesday afternoon when a car attempted to cross the median on Interstate 29 near Hillsboro, the North Dakota Highway Patrol said.
The identities of the women were not released while their relatives were being notified.
The 89-year-old Ada woman was traveling with a 17-year-old girl and a 43-year-old woman, both from Borup, Minn.
The 43-year-old was driving an SUV north on I-29 about four miles north of Hillsboro. The vehicle stopped in the passing lane to cross the median and head south. A 20-year-old woman from Hatton, N.D., was driving behind them in her SUV and rear-ended the first SUV.
The 89-year-old died at the scene. Others in her vehicle were taken to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, N.D., for treatment. The driver of the other vehicle was taken to Sanford Health in Fargo.
Everyone involved wore seatbelts.
