7-year sentence for injuries to twin babies
ROCHESTER, Minn. (AP) — A Rochester mother has been sentenced to more than seven years in prison for causing injuries and fractures to her twin babies.
Twenty-two-year-old Kanishka Shereal Molina pleaded guilty to first-degree assault-causing great bodily harm in an agreement with prosecutors in Olmsted County. The infants suffered arm, leg and rib fractures.
Authorities started investigating after Molina and her husband brought their 4-month-old son to Saint Marys Hospital in May 2011. A body scan revealed multiple fractures. Police then went to the couple's home and found the baby's twin sister had also been injured.
The Post-Bulletin says Olmsted County District Court Judge Jodi Williamson sentenced Molina to 86 months in prison on Monday.
