The preliminary results of the autopsy indicate that Kirkpatrick was the victim of a homicide and died as a result of a stab wound, the press release said. The autopsy was done by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office.

The Beltrami County Sheriff's Office has arrested a suspect, 44-year-old Randy Joseph Grubich, who is originally from the Twin Cities.

Grubich is being held in Beltrami County Jail on a felony charge of making terroristic threats. He was charged May 22 after an incident that occurred May 20 unrelated to the suspected homicide of Kirkpatrick.

Beltrami County District Judge Shari Schluchter has set bail at $75,000.

Grubich is a paranoid schizophrenic, according to the criminal complaint in the terroristic threats charge.

Grubich lived on the farm of Bob Kelly in rural Pinewood, where Kirkpatrick's body was found Tuesday morning. Grubich was arrested at the scene.

Investigators continued to find additional evidence linking Grubich to Kirkpatrick's death, according to the press release from Beltrami County.

Beltrami County Attorney Tim Faver said he expects that Grubich will be charged in connection to Kirkpatrick's death on Monday.

The suspected homicide remains under investigation by the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office, Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office.
