44-year-old man killed in ATV accident near Gully
Kenneth Sutherland, 44, Trail, Minn., died Thursday from injuries he sustained in an all-terrain vehicle accident north of Gully, Minn., said his brother, Adam Sutherland, Fargo, on Sunday.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office in Crookston investigated the accident but had not disclosed his identity by Sunday evening.
On Saturday, the sheriff's office said deputies were contacted about 6 a.m. Friday about an ATV accident Thursday at 270th Street S.E., near Gully in which a man died. The ATV reportedly caught the edge of the roadway and flipped, throwing the driver.
Sutherland was driving home when he "lost control," Adam Sutherland said. "I don't know all the details, it was just a freak accident. It's nothing you ever want to get a phone call about."
Sutherland had lived in Trail about a dozen years or more and worked in the Trail's End Bar, said his brother.
Kevin Edward Sutherland was born to Donald and Ellie Sutherland and grew up in Fosston, Minn., where he graduated from high school in 1983. His mother died in 2000; his father in 2008.
Besides Adam, his survivors include his older brother, Clark, and younger sister, Amy Hvezda, both of Mahnomen, Minn.
A memorial service is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday in the Trail's End Bar in Trail, Adam Sutherland said.
