3 of 8 people accused of theft from cars await sentencing

BEMIDJI -- Three of eight people arrested in connection with thefts from cars on Dec. 15 are awaiting sentencing in the Beltrami County Jail.

Nicole Kramer, 30, of Bemidji, is facing six counts of felony theft. Kramer appeared in court on Dec. 19 and Dec. 23 with an omnibus hearing scheduled for Dec. 30. Kramer will also appear on Dec. 27 for a hearing in connection with another alleged theft charge. Kramer’s criminal history includes felony check forgery and felony financial transaction card fraud in Beltrami County and felony theft charges in Beltrami and Itasca Counties.

Paul Kramer, III, 25, of Bemidji is looking at one count of felony theft. He appeared in court on Dec. 19 and Dec. 23. Mr. Kramer will have an omnibus hearing on Jan. 6. Kramer’s criminal background includes DWI, receiving stolen property and domestic assault in Beltrami County and a felony theft charge in St. Louis County.

Lance Week, 27, of Bemidji faces six counts of felony theft. Week appeared in court on Dec. 19 and Dec. 23 with an omnibus hearing scheduled for Jan. 13. Week’s criminal history includes underage liquor consumption, DWI, receiving stolen property and felony drug possession all in Beltrami County.

According to Minnesota Statute (609.52.2(a)(1)), the maximum penalty for theft is no more than 20 years imprisonment or a fine of not more than $100,000, or both, if the value of property is more than $35,000. Penalties vary depending on the value of property or services stolen.

Initially Joel Velisek, 48; Kenneth Luzius, 23; Jennifer Brown, 21; Seth Richardson, 33 and Samantha Miller, 31, all of Bemidji were also arrested. Velisek was released without being charged after being held in the Beltrami County Jail on conspiracy, fifth-degree possession and identity theft charges. Luzius is being held at the jail for probation violation of a previous sentence for receiving stolen property. Brown is in the Beltrami County Jail for violating probation of a third degree felony drug sale sentence. Richardson and Miller were not charged and released from custody.
