NEW YORK MILLS, Minn. -The Great American Think-Off, which bills itself as the country's premier amateur philosophy contest, has released its 2010 essay and debate question: "Do the wealthy have an obligation to help the poor?"
This year's debate will be held June 12 before a live audience.
A panel of judges will select four finalists to participate in the finals.
The winner is decided by the audience attending the debate.
In its 18th year, organizers of the Great American Think-Off say it is a national philosophy competition providing an opportunity for ordinary people to voice their opinions on some of life's more perplexing questions.
