2 killed after 2 teen drivers collide near Twin Cities

WHITE BEAR TOWNSHIP, Minn. (AP) - A 17-year-old driver and his mother are dead after their car crashed with an SUV going the wrong way.

The Minnesota State Patrol says 42-year-old Kathryn Thiebault (Tee'-boe) and her son Jason of White Bear Lake were driving on Highway 61 in the northern St. Paul suburb of White Bear Township on Sunday afternoon when they were hit. Jason was driving northbound, and authorities say the SUV was going southbound in the wrong lane.

The driver of the SUV has been identified as 17-year-old Nicole Tavernier of Hugo. She was taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul with non-life threatening injuries.
