2 children killed, another injured in Grand Forks semi-van crash

Two Grand Forks children were killed and another was injured this morning when a semi truck collided with the van they were in at U.S. Highway 2 and Grand Forks County Road 5 (Airport Road).

The children, whose names have not been released, were under 10 years old, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

The driver of the van, age 39, from Grand Forks, and the driver of the 2005 Volvo semi, a 64-year-old Jamestown, N.D., man, were injured in the accident, which occurred shortly before 10 a.m. They were taken to Altru Hospital.

According to the Highway Patrol, the semi was eastbound on U.S. 2 when it collided with a 1995 Safari van traveling north on Airport Road.

The intersection is controlled by traffic lights.

The accident remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
