Award winning actress to speak in Red Lake on environmental issues

RED LAKE—Award-winning actress Tantoo Cardinal will speak at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, at Red Lake Seven Clans Casino about her experience growing up in the tar sands region of Alberta, Canada. The event is free and open to the public.

Cardinal has acted in 20 feature films including "Dances with Wolves," "Legends of the Fall," "Smoke Signals" and "Loyalties." She also has appeared in 11 mini series and 22 television roles, such as "Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman."

Musicians Annie Humphrey and Thomas X will perform at the event. Information tables will be provided by NorthStar Chapter of Sierra Club, MN350, Honor the Earth, Friends of the Headwaters, Interfaith Power and Lights, Minnesota Environmental Partnership, and Youth Interveners.
