Sanford Center hires new executive chef
BEMIDJI - A graduate from the le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Paris has been hired as the executive director for the Sanford Center.
Elbert Smith, 41, started work at the Bemidji facility Monday, according to Roger Swanson, executive director for the Sanford Center.
A news release said Smith has more than 20 years of culinary experience and also graduated the Culinary Institute of America in New York.
Most recently, he was employed at Minnesota State University Moorhead. He previously worked at the Radisson Hotel in High Point, N.C., and Norman's Prime State and Seafood in Fargo, N.D.
"With his extensive knowledge of menu design and exotic cuisines, Sanford Center guests can look forward to sampling Chef Smith's many culinary offerings and regional specialties," the release said.
