Deal signed for new Bemidji hotel on south shore

Tripp Snyder, developer of the south shore-planned Country Inn & Suites, signed the purchase agreement with the city of Bemidji on Thursday, according to John Chattin, city manager, in his weekly newsletter.

Snyder purchased 2.17 acres for $756,202 for the hotel, which will be connected to the Sanford Center.

Chattin said in the newsletter that Snyder plans to break ground at the end of April. A Design Review Committee will be held Tuesday as Snyder and architect Dan Anderson present their plans.

"Based upon their preliminary drawings, I believe the committee will be pleased with the concept," Chattin said in the newsletter. "It will take an aggressive timeline to ensure that ground can be broken in April, but we are prepared to accommodate that timeline and get this project in the ground."

The Design Review Committee also met Thursday to review plans for the new Double Tree Hotel & Green Mil expansion, Chattin reported.

"There were a few comments and suggestions that will be incorporated into the plan but, overall, the committee is pleased with the design," Chattin wrote. "Building plans have already been submitted to our building department and we expect to see ground being broken for that project soon."
